Advanced Supplier Quality Engineer

A well-established company with a strong presence in Carrollton, GA, is seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join their team. This role will be responsible for overseeing supplier production processes and part qualification (APQP), with a focus on Lean Manufacturing, maintaining a defect-free environment, and preventing re-occurrences of quality issues. In addition, the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will be involved in the approval and development of new suppliers and technologies. As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, you will serve as a technical liaison between the purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams. Your primary responsibilities include resolving quality issues, implementing and monitoring advanced quality planning, and providing support by using independent judgment within established practices and standards. You will also be responsible for qualifying and approving purchased parts for mass production.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of advanced quality planning with future product suppliers
  • Ensuring that suppliers fully understand product and submission requirements
  • Reviewing and approving supplier quality plans for new part programs
  • Assessing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Implementing and monitoring the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers
  • Providing training in Lean Manufacturing and supporting Kaizen activities
  • Identifying the root cause of supplier quality problems and coordinating effective resolutions
  • Improving quality performance of assigned suppliers
  • Maintaining necessary documentation and files
  • Assisting in determining part critical characteristics and required process controls
  • Reviewing tool, fixture, and part designs
  • Participating as a member or resource for product development teams

As part of this role, you may be required to travel up to 30% of the time, which could involve week-long trips with short notice.


Education and Experience Requirements:

We are looking for candidates with a 4-year degree or equivalent experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment. If you do not have a degree, you must have at least 8-10 years of related experience. Supplier quality engineering experience is required, and advanced supplier quality engineering experience, including new product engineering and process changes, is preferred.
