Air Compliance Technician – Oil & Gas
Location: Morgantown, WV or Marietta, OH (Field-Based)

Our client, a rapidly growing oil and gas exploration and production company operating in the Appalachian Basin, is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Air Compliance Technician. This field-based role supports air quality regulatory compliance across Ohio and Pennsylvania and offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on at drilling, completion, and production sites. The position can be based out of Morgantown, WV or Marietta, OH and requires frequent regional travel.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) inspections using FLIR cameras to ensure compliance with federal (e.g., NSPS OOOOa, OOOOb) and state (e.g., PA DEP, Ohio EPA) air quality regulations.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, emissions repairs, and corrective actions as required by regulatory and company standards.

  • Perform minor field repairs on emissions control equipment, including gasket and thief hatch replacements.

  • Coordinate with Production, Operations, and Regulatory teams to address compliance during drilling and completion SIMOPS.

  • Review inspection data for quality assurance, ensuring completeness and accuracy in digital reporting systems.

  • Manage daily travel to various sites across Ohio and Pennsylvania; overnight travel required (70–80% of time).

  • Complete administrative tasks including data entry, reporting, and compliance documentation (20–30% office-based).

  • Follow all safety protocols and participate in ongoing safety training and meetings.


Ideal Background:

  • Associate’s degree in environmental science, engineering technology, or related field preferred. Equivalent field experience (2+ years) considered.

  • Minimum 2 years of environmental or oil & gas field experience.

  • Proficiency with monitoring tools and understanding of oil and gas equipment such as compressors, pumps, and turbines.

  • Prior experience with OGI inspections and FLIR cameras required.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state air quality regulations, particularly 40 CFR Part 60 Subparts OOOOa and OOOOb.

  • Independent, self-motivated professional with the ability to plan and execute fieldwork in remote locations.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using internal data systems.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.


Work Environment:

  • Must be capable of working outdoors in various conditions and on rugged terrain approximately 70–80% of the time.

  • Remaining 20–30% of duties will be performed in an office setting.
