Analytical Scientist
The position of Data Analyst is currently open at our Lancaster, SC location. We are seeking a skilled Analytical Scientist who can independently validate new analytical methods and provide technical support to various corporate groups including Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and International Business.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Validate analytical methods to ensure efficient analysis and timely release of raw materials, finished products, and stability studies.
- Create and execute protocols for method transfer of analytical methods to facilitate product release by the QC department.
- Proficiency in the use of Empower Software and other laboratory software for chromatographic, spectroscopic methods, as well as wet chemistry.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and approval of technical documentation within specified timeframes.
- Evaluate testing methodologies and their applicability to different sample matrices, including assessing testing results from contract laboratories to ensure adherence to agreed methods and parameters.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest technological and scientific trends in the field and act as a resource for the rest of the team. Mentor and train chemists in the proper execution and interpretation of validation studies.
- Provide support for routine testing of raw materials, stability samples, finished products, and out of specifications, as required in Quality Control.
- Perform other assigned duties and follow instructions given by supervisors or designees in order to meet company goals and objectives.
- Maintain effective communication with other departments within the organization and collaborate within a team environment.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
Minimum Requirements:
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for laboratory instruments.
- Proficiency with a wide range of laboratory instrumentation, such as FTIR, HPLC, ICP, GC, UV-Vis, LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, HPTLC, and relevant test methods.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques, including data trend analysis and design of experiments, is highly desirable. Ability to review and interpret laboratory data effectively.
- Detailed knowledge of routine laboratory operations principles.
- Thorough understanding of industry regulations, FDA and ICH guidelines, and experience in implementing and maintaining adherence to pharmaceutical and/or nutritional supplement GLP/GMP standards is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with a minimum of 7 years of experience in validating analytical methods for nutraceutical and/or pharmaceutical samples within a GMP environment. A Master’s degree is preferred, along with at least 3 years of technical experience. Extensive experience may be considered in place of an advanced degree.
- A degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or related fields is strongly preferred.
- A willingness to work at the bench alongside the Analytical Chemistry team to accomplish assigned tasks.
