Position Summary

As a Chemical Applications Developer, you will be responsible for working in a laboratory environment to prepare formulations, conduct material characterizations, apply coatings, and perform comparative bench marking. Your role will involve gaining an in-depth understanding of the company's product portfolio and its applications in coating technologies. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Sales & Marketing team to provide technical support and service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize your expertise and experience to evaluate newly developed resin systems, providing valuable insights and direction to the R&D team.
  • Contribute to project management and new product development processes, ensuring technical excellence and commercial viability.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the company's product portfolio, including technology, market trends, and value propositions.
  • Assist in the development and organization of technical and environmental data, such as technical data sheets and launch packages.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Represent the organization in industry forums and conferences, showcasing your expertise in specific areas of application.

Required Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in formulation and application, with a focus on product development and structure-property relationships.
  • Previous experience working in a coatings and/or paint laboratory, including proficiency in milling pigments, formulation preparation, and material characterizations.
  • Desirable experience with solvent borne materials and polymer chemistry.
  • Knowledge of automotive coatings is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory and equipment safety protocols.
  • Proficient in experimental planning, data analysis, and written communication in English.
  • Availability for travel, approximately 10-15% domestically.

Qualifications

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in a scientific field, preferably chemistry (with a focus on polymer chemistry).
