The Applications Engineer holds a crucial position within our organization, playing a key role in promoting the benefits of our solutions to potential clients. This role involves close collaboration with sales and engineering teams, providing consultation on product development, and delivering presentations to showcase the value of our offerings.

Responsibilities include:

- Collaborating with sales and engineering staff to develop project quotes.

- Establishing and maintaining new business relationships to maximize revenue and margin growth.

- Ensuring projects meet system requirements by working closely with customers and engineers.

- Developing sales approaches and tailored pitches based on client needs.

- Managing project opportunities through the quoting phase.

- Identifying and establishing new account relationships through leads, cold calls, and appointments.

- Conducting technical presentations, providing explanations of the functionality of our products and services to customers.

- Establishing rapport and building trust with customers.

- Planning engineering modifications to meet client demands.

- Recommending cost-effective VMRA products to clients.

- Securing orders, maintaining product standards, and ensuring timely product delivery.

- Contributing to the Customer Relationship Management process by responding to customer inquiries.

- Collaborating with the sales team to understand customer demands and provide sales support.

- Managing AfterMarket Sales, which includes quoting spare parts and processing spare part orders.

- Working with the Accounting Department to manage spare part billings.

- Assisting outside sales efforts and providing support to the VP of Business Development as needed.

- Providing regular and detailed status updates.

- Complying with all safety rules and practices.

- Traveling regionally, approximately 30% of the time.

Technical expectations for this role include:

- Proficiency in drafting and drawing using SolidWorks and DraftSight to create project concepts in both 2D and 3D.

- Communicating with external vendors to obtain equipment pricing and lead times.

- Collaborating with VMRA Test Engineering to define testing requirements for design validation during concept development.

- Ability to create robot simulations as needed.

- Facilitating the transfer of information and correspondence gathered during concept development to Project Engineering during project kickoff.


- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BSME), Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or a related field from an accredited college or university.

- 1-3 years of experience in engineering design.

Preferred experiences / qualifications:

- Proficiency in drafting and drawing using SolidWorks to create project concepts.

- Prior experience with SolidWorks and DraftSight.

- Knowledge of automation or manufacturing-related design.

- Familiarity with automation and manufacturing processes and designs.
