Assistant Dean of Nursing
The Assistant Dean of Nursing plays a vital leadership role within the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, working in close partnership with the Dean to support academic quality, student success, and operational effectiveness. This position helps shape curriculum, mentor faculty, oversee student services, and maintain compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, all while building strategic relationships with healthcare partners and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Program Support

Contribute to the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the BSN curriculum in alignment with CCNE, ACEN, and state nursing board standards.

Monitor trends in nursing education, including technology integration, informatics, and evidence-based practice, to ensure curriculum relevance.

Work with the Dean to maintain academic integrity and ensure the program prepares students for NCLEX-RN licensure.
Faculty Leadership and Development

Support faculty recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and professional development.

Assist in creating teaching assignments and scheduling to ensure balanced workloads and optimal course delivery.

Promote innovative teaching strategies and scholarly engagement among faculty members.
Student Services and Success Initiatives

Oversee student advising, clinical placement coordination, and academic support services to improve retention and graduation outcomes.

Serve as a resource for student concerns and promote a culture of academic support and inclusion.

Collaborate with career services to prepare students for successful entry into the nursing workforce.
Program Operations and Accreditation

Assist with budget planning, resource allocation, and facilities management within the nursing department.

Support accreditation and regulatory efforts by gathering data, preparing reports, and ensuring ongoing compliance.

Maintain accurate documentation for audits and program assessment.
Clinical and Community Engagement

Develop and sustain clinical partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and healthcare systems for student training opportunities.

Represent the nursing program at professional, community, and university events.

Promote collaboration with healthcare organizations to expand workforce development efforts.
Strategic Planning and Institutional Advancement

Participate in strategic planning and program review initiatives in coordination with the Dean.

Contribute to fundraising, grant writing, and alumni relations to support scholarships and program growth.

Organize key events such as nursing pinning ceremonies and recognition programs for students and faculty.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
-
Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) required.

Doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, EdD, or equivalent) preferred.
Licensure
-
Must hold a current, unencumbered RN license.
Experience
-
Minimum 3–5 years in nursing education, clinical practice, or academic administration.

Preferred: 2–3 years teaching at the baccalaureate level and experience in curriculum development or accreditation.
