Our client in Cincinnati, OH is currently seeking an Assistant Produce Manager/ Buyer to join their team on a direct hire basis.

Assistant Produce Manager/Buyer Responsibilities:
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the produce department to ensure freshness, quality, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to learn and eventually transition into a Produce Buyer position. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in retail produce management, extensive knowledge of produce products, strong inventory management skills, negotiation abilities with vendors, and financial acumen within the retail grocery industry.
- Ensure the availability of fresh and fully stocked produce items through effective ordering and stock management.
- Develop and implement merchandising strategies to enhance visual appeal and drive sales.
- Utilize daily sales data to effectively manage production output and minimize shrinkage.
- Make informed purchasing decisions based on market trends, sales performance, and profitability.
- Forecast market trends and evaluate supplier options in terms of quality, pricing, terms, and support.
- Coordinate freight services to ensure timely and efficient delivery of produce.
- Source new products while maintaining optimal inventory levels and turnover rates.
- Monitor and adjust inventory levels to meet customer demand and reduce waste.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop department employees.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Plan and oversee departmental work assignments to ensure smooth operations.
- Professionally address customer requests and concerns to enhance satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with state, local, and company health and safety policies.
- Collaborate with leadership to effectively execute company directives and promotional campaigns.
- Implement strategies aligned with company goals and growth objectives.
- Establish and enforce operational policies consistent with organizational objectives.
- Regularly evaluate departmental operations and report results to the main office.
- Foster effective communication channels within the department.
- Utilize Google Docs and Spreadsheets for documentation and data analysis.
- Leverage PowerBi for advanced data analytics and reporting.
- Utilize BRData for inventory and procurement management.

Assistant Produce Manager/ Buyer Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum five years of experience in retail produce management
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Proven ability to train and develop employees effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong written and oral communication abilities
- Proficiency in multitasking within a fast-paced environment
- In-depth knowledge of government regulations and strong analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Proficiency in Retail Math
- Ability to consistently maneuver weights up to 50 pounds
- Capable of working in warm, wet, and cold environments as required
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods
- Must be fluent in English; fluency in any additional language is a plus
- Willingness to be trained in forklift operation on a daily basis
