Position Title: Assistant Transportation Manager (Food Distribution)

Exempt Status: Exempt

Accountable To: Transportation Manager

Job Summary: The Assistant Transportation Manager is responsible for leading, training, and developing our Class A Delivery Drivers at multiple locations. They will focus on improving delivery efficiency and providing support to the transportation department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers, acting as a role model and resource for them.

• Ensure that all drivers comply with DOT safety regulations.

• Coordinate and maintain delivery equipment to ensure proper functionality and compliance with DOT standards.

• Plan, route, and execute deliveries accurately.

• Train new drivers and provide ongoing support to ensure their success.

• Introduce and train on new procedures and technologies.

• Fill in for team members as needed, including management and routing.

• Assist in managing department expenses and overtime.

• Strategize and independently resolve problems that may arise.

• Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and cultivate strong relationships with all transportation team members.

• Perform assigned administrative duties as directed by the Transportation Manager.

• *Travel to various depots to work with drivers, review deliveries, safety procedures, and DOT requirements is required for this position.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Valid Class A Driver's license.

• Knowledge of DOT requirements and laws.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with team members.

• Demonstrates or exceeds Core Values.

• Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

• Familiarity with routing and delivery processes.

• Proficient in email and internet applications.

• Familiarity with spreadsheets and word processing.

Education & Experience:

• Extensive knowledge of DOT Compliance and Regulations.

• Minimum of five years of experience in foodservice warehouse and/or transportation management (any combination of education and experience will be considered).
