Your main responsibility will be delivering athletic training services to high school and junior high school sports teams in contracted schools.
- Education, License & Certifications: The successful candidate must hold at least a bachelor's or master's degree from a CAATE accredited program, in addition to being certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) in good standing. Current licensure in the state of primary practice is mandatory, with dual licensure in both New York and Pennsylvania preferred. A valid BLS certification for professionals is required.
- Experience: Prior experience in working with adolescent athletes is strongly preferred.
- Key Responsibilities: Show professionalism and maintain a positive attitude when dealing with patients, families, clients, athletic directors, coaches, colleagues, and others. Provide high-quality care to athletes and patients, including preventive measures, immediate treatment, assessment, referral, and communication with healthcare providers. Conduct regular monitoring of athletic activities and events to identify safety hazards or unsafe practices, promptly alerting the appropriate supervisor. Collaborate with athletic directors and coaches to design and implement effective and suitable training programs for student athletes.
- Conduct initial assessment and offer appropriate care for emergent, acute, and chronic sports-related injuries and illnesses. Determine promptly and effectively if a higher level of care is necessary. Communicate with school officials and parents/guardians regarding injuries or illnesses, the care provided, and recommendations for further treatment. Collaborate closely with the Medical Director, physicians, and providers to ensure proper treatment and rehabilitation of injured student athletes. Create personalized treatment plans as needed and perform appropriate interventions under the supervision of the Medical Director or the athlete's physician/provider. May provide on-site rehabilitation programs at schools or recommend therapy referrals to outpatient facilities.
- Ensure accurate documentation of athletes' health status, injuries, illnesses, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and encounters in the athlete Electronic Medical Record. Use Presagia EMR software to document injury, treatment, and encounter status for all student athletes, both home and away teams. At the start of each sports season, gather demographic information, team/sport participation, and grade for all athletes. Document all injuries in Presagia within 24 hours, creating a record in the "Unresolved Injuries" or "Unresolved Illness" section, including details such as date and time of injury, affected body part, severity, mechanism of injury, and location where injury occurred. The injury must be linked to the appropriate team and sport. Thoroughly document the initial assessment as a note, specifying the injury or illness, on the "Unresolved Injuries" or "Unresolved Illnesses" page, covering history, observation, palpation, ROM, MMT, neuro evaluation, special tests, and differential diagnosis.
- Provide guidance for athletes, coaches, and parents/guardians regarding return-to-play procedures after injuries, under the supervision of the Medical Director or physician/provider. Maintain regular communication with the Medical Director and consult them regarding referrals for additional services when necessary. Participate in ongoing education and professional development activities. Attend and present at departmental in-service sessions as scheduled, and engage in external professional growth activities, sharing relevant information with the team.
- Adhere to federal and state guidelines, professional organizational policies, and the policies and practices of the entity and facilities involved.
