Attorney – Insurance Defense Litigation (55666)

Our client, a fast-growing law firm in Houston, TX, is currently seeking a highly motivated Insurance Defense Litigation Associate to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who has a strong passion for litigation and a proven track record in handling complex insurance defense cases. As a valued member of the litigation team, you will have the responsibility of overseeing cases from the beginning to the end, with a focus on defending insurance claims and providing strategic legal advice to our clients. Responsibilities:

  • Handle a diverse range of insurance defense matters, including personal injury, property damage, professional liability, and commercial litigation.
  • Manage a caseload that entails complex legal issues, starting from pre-litigation investigations all the way to trial preparation and settlement negotiations.
  • Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and requests/responses for discovery.
  • Conduct depositions for parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Represent clients in mediation sessions, hearings, and court appearances.
  • Offer timely and effective legal advice to clients, keeping them updated on case progress, potential risks, and strategic decisions.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and conduct legal research.
  • Stay up-to-date on developments in insurance law, tort law, and trial procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Texas State Bar.
  • 3-8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation or a related practice area, including general liability, premises liability, personal injury, or construction defects.
  • Extensive knowledge of Texas civil procedure, defense strategies, and insurance law.
  • Excellent skills in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong experience in depositions, motion practice, and hearings.
  • A client-centered approach with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trial experience or a strong interest in handling cases at trial.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery tools and case management software.
