Automation Controls Product Engineer – Process Instrumentation

We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Product Engineer – Process Instrumentation located in Atlanta, GA. Use your expertise in product knowledge to analyze, test, troubleshoot, and specify new products for the industrial automation market.

The Product Engineer (PE) will collaborate with a Product Manager to effectively manage and expand the product line in an entrepreneurial environment. Serving as the subject matter expert for the product, the PE will work closely with suppliers on all technical aspects of product development, evaluation, new product introduction, and support throughout the product life cycle. The primary area of product ownership will be in robotics. The PE will function as a servant leader, engaging with internal and external teams across functions.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize your experience and product knowledge to select and support the development of superior products that enhance the product line and meet customers' needs
- Assume ownership of the product throughout its life cycle
- Evaluate and test new products and technologies
- Provide support for products during new product introductions, including documentation, training, and second-tier backline support (only during regular business hours)
- Lead life-cycle projects aimed at improving product quality or reducing product cost
- Evaluate suppliers, including their product offerings, technology roadmaps, and support capabilities
- Some domestic and international travel may be required
Qualifications:
- Technical education required, preferably with a BS in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- 6 years of experience in the industrial control & automation market or in OEM/manufacturing of process instrumentation products (10 years preferred). Experience should include a working knowledge of process sensors (pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc.) demonstrated through temperature/process controls and signal conditioners product application, control system integration, hands-on calibration, configuration, technical support, and/or product design (similar experience in related markets such as building automation and medical equipment may also be considered).
- Desirable experience with industrial control products such as PLCs, HMIs, process instrumentation, sensors, safety, power products or signaling
- Experience with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, etc.) desirable
- Knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. would be an added advantage
- Must possess self-confidence, organizational skills, time management skills, and excellent communication skills
- Must be a self-starter capable of working on and managing projects independently, meeting deadlines, and having outstanding interpersonal skills
