Automation Controls Product Engineer – Robotics

As an Automation Controls Product Engineer, you will utilize your expertise to analyze, test, troubleshoot, and specify new products for the industrial automation market.

Objective:
As a Product Engineer, you will collaborate with a Product Manager to manage and expand our product line in an entrepreneurial atmosphere. Serving as the product expert, you will work closely with suppliers to develop, evaluate, introduce, and support products throughout their life cycles. Your primary focus will be on robotics. Additionally, you will be a cross-functional leader, collaborating with internal and external teams.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize your knowledge and experience to select and develop the best products that meet customer needs and drive product line growth
- Take ownership of products throughout their life cycles
- Evaluate and test new products and technologies
- Provide support for product introductions, documentation, training, and tier-two backline support (during business hours only)
- Lead life-cycle projects to enhance product quality and reduce costs
- Evaluate suppliers based on product offerings, technology roadmap, and support capabilities
- Occasional domestic and international travel may be required
Qualifications:
- Educational background in a technical discipline, preferably a BS in mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
- 6 years of experience in the industrial control and automation market or in OEM/manufacturing utilizing robotics (preference for 10 years)
- Experience in product application, control system integration, calibration, configuration, technical support, and/or product design involving robots is highly desirable
- Familiarity with various robotic technologies (end effectors, vision systems, SCARA robots, cobots, delta robots, or cartesian robots) is a plus
- Experience with industrial control products such as PLCs and HMIs is advantageous
- Knowledge of agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, etc.) is beneficial
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is advantageous
- Strong organizational skills, time management abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with others
