AutomationDirect is currently seeking product managers or controls engineers to join our team as an Automation Controls Product Manager. In this role, you will have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert on one of our client’s industrial control product lines - PLCs, HMIs, Drives, Motion, Process Instrumentation, Power & Circuit Protection, and Motor Controls. As a Product Manager, you will utilize your product knowledge and experience to manage and grow the assigned product line, ensuring the delivery of practical products with low cost of ownership and exceptional customer experience.

Objective:

We are seeking a Product Manager (PM) to work closely with a Product Engineer in an entrepreneurial environment within AutomationDirect. As a PM, your main responsibility will be to define the product line strategy and oversee all aspects of the business for your assigned product line. This includes road-mapping, supplier management, branding, revenue and profit growth. Your primary focus will be on ac/dc drives, ac soft starters, ac/dc motors, and ac/dc gearmotors. You will work as a servant leader, collaborating cross-functionally with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a multi-year new product roadmap to expand market presence and competitive advantage for the product lines
  • Analyze market and customer needs, competition, and market segment trends to identify opportunities for new and existing products
  • Present new product opportunities, including comprehensive understanding of market availability, pricing, the expected market share, and cost considerations for our clients
  • Develop and select new product offerings for AutomationDirect customers, including determining product requirements, branding, supplier selection, negotiating supply agreements, developing marketing material, establishing pricing, forecasting sales, assisting with promotion plans, and providing product training
  • Provide support for product end of life and obsolescence, including handling slow-moving items
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required

Qualifications:

  • Educational background in a technical discipline, preferably with a BS in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • 7 years of experience (preferred 10 years) in the industrial control & automation market or in OEM/manufacturing of process instrumentation products. Experience with process sensors, control system integration, calibration, technical support, and/or product design is desired
  • Experience with industrial control products such as PLCs, HMIs, process instrumentation, sensors, safety, power products, or signaling is desirable
  • Familiarity with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, etc.) is a plus
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is advantageous
  • Strong self-confidence, organizational skills, time management skills, and excellent communication skills are essential
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and possess excellent interpersonal skills
