Automation / Robotics Technician – turn key robotic install

A well-established company located in Lagrange, GA, which holds a significant portion of the U.S. market share in their manufacturing industry, is seeking an Automation / Robotics Technician for their plant. This position has become available due to the company's growth in robotic installations for the assembly process. The work schedule for this day shift position is from 8:00am - 4:30pm, with the possibility of overtime pay. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous 401K match and potential performance-based bonuses. Relocation assistance is also available for qualified candidates. In this manufacturing environment, you will work with various robots, including Fanuc, ABB, and UR, as well as Allen Bradley PLCs. To qualify for this role, you should have at least 5 years of experience, making this likely a Level III position.


As an Automation/Robotics Technician, you will be responsible for participating in cell design, end of arm tooling, fixture design, and the installation of automated equipment. This role involves a mix of mechanical, electrical, and facilities support. You will be responsible for configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting robots and other automated systems used in production. Your primary goal will be to increase efficiency and prolong the life of robotic and other automated equipment by performing the following duties:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.") General and other duties as assigned.

Level I

  1. Utilize pneumatics and principles of compressed air for operational tasks.
  2. Apply knowledge of hydraulics and principles of fluid mechanics for various tasks.
  3. Work with electrical circuits ranging from 120 to 480 volts and perform other electrical-related tasks, including AC and DC power and circuit board work.
  4. Collaborate closely with engineers in the construction of robotic equipment.
  5. Perform testing of robotic systems to ensure proper functionality.

Level II (This level includes all Level I responsibilities)

  1. Layout and installation of various plumbing systems, including interpreting isometric drawings.
  2. Use electrical test equipment to perform voltage and current readings and conduct ohm testing.
  3. Install and program robotic equipment in a manufacturing facility.
  4. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues that arise with robotic equipment.
  5. Apply knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics to troubleshoot robotic systems.
  6. Perform repairs to robots or peripheral equipment, such as replacement of defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, or servomotors.

Level III (This level includes all Level I & II responsibilities)

  1. Install air logic controls based on prints or schematics.
  2. Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits containing components such as check valves, accumulators, cylinders, flow controls, directional control valves, and pressure control valves.
  3. Use a computer to troubleshoot PLC systems.
  4. Install, program, or repair programmable controllers, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, or conveyors.
  5. Utilize knowledge of all fabrication equipment to complete maintenance tasks.
  6. Operate the equipment or oversee the operation of robotics equipment.
  7. Analyze and categorize events within the equipment.
  8. Work closely with engineers and production team to achieve desired output.
  9. Perform preventative maintenance, including routine upgrades and inspections.
  10. Repair robotic machines, systems, and tools as needed.
  11. Disassemble or reassemble robots to repair or replace defective parts.
  12. Train others to install, use, and service robots.


  1. Level I - High school diploma or equivalent, with one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Level II - High school diploma or equivalent, with two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Level III - Technical training certificates or associate degree, with six to eight years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  1. Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving various units of measure.

  1. Ability to effectively analyze and problem-solve.

In this position, you will frequently use your hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and communicate verbally. You will also frequently stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, and stoop, as well as occasionally reach with hands/arms and lift up to 50 lbs.


The work environment for this role is typically loud. You may also be exposed to extreme heat, work in high, precarious places, and in various weather conditions. Additionally, you may encounter fumes or airborne particles, as well as toxic or caustic chemicals. There is also a risk of electrical shock and vibration.
