Automation / Robotics Technician – turn key robotic install

Our well-established company, located in Augusta, GA, has a strong presence in the manufacturing sector across the US market. We are currently seeking an experienced Robotic Installation Technician to join our team in a plant environment. This position is due to our growing need for robotic installations in the assembly process. The work schedule for this day shift opportunity is from 8:00am – 4:30pm with potential for up to 10 hours of paid overtime per week. GENERAL SUMMARY:

As an Automation/Robotics Technician, you will play a key role in designing and installing automated equipment. This position requires a mix of mechanical, electrical, and facilities support. Your responsibilities will include configuring, testing, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting robots and other automated systems used in production. You will be instrumental in increasing efficiency and ensuring the longevity of our robotic and automated equipment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.") General and other duties as assigned.

Level I

  1. Our ideal candidate should have experience in working with pneumatics and a good understanding of compressed air principles.
  2. Knowledge of hydraulics and fluid mechanics is essential for this role.
  3. You will be working with circuits ranging from 120 to 480 volts, therefore, experience in electrical tasks, including AC and DC power and circuit boards, is required.
  4. Collaborate with engineers in the construction of robotic equipment.
  5. Test robotic systems to ensure proper functionality before use.

Level II (This level includes all Level I responsibilities)

  1. Perform plumbing-related tasks, including layout and installation of various plumbing systems based on isometric drawings.
  2. Conduct electrical tasks, such as using electrical test equipment for readings and ohm testing.
  3. Install and program robotic equipment in a manufacturing facility.
  4. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues that may arise with robotic equipment.
  5. Use your expertise in microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics to troubleshoot robotic systems.
  6. Repair robots or peripheral equipment, replacing defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, or servomotors as needed.

Level III (This level includes all Level I & II responsibilities)

  1. Install air logic controls based on prints or schematics.
  2. Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits containing various components, such as check valves, accumulators, cylinders, flow controls, and control valves.
  3. Utilize computer skills to troubleshoot PLC systems.
  4. Install, program, or repair programmable controllers, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, and conveyors.
  5. Utilize fabrication equipment knowledge to complete maintenance tasks.
  6. Operate the equipment or oversee the operation of robotics equipment.
  7. Analyze and categorize events within the equipment.
  8. Work closely with engineers and production team to achieve desired output.
  9. Conduct preventative maintenance, including routine upgrades and inspections.
  10. Repair robotic machines, systems, and tools as needed.
  11. Disassemble or reassemble robots to repair or replace defective parts.
  12. Train others on installation, usage, and servicing of robots.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. Level I - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Level II - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Level III - Technical training certificates or associate degree, six to eight years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  1. Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

  1. Capability to analyze problems and find effective solutions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to use their hands for handling objects, tools, or controls, as well as communicate orally. The employee should be able to stand, walk, reach, climb, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently. Additionally, the employee must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
