Job Description

A Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required for this position. The ideal candidate must possess a valid US driver's license and be eligible to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship.

A BMET II is responsible for repairing, testing, and calibrating clinical equipment, devices, instruments, and systems. They will also be responsible for inspecting, installing, and providing scheduled maintenance of clinical equipment. In addition, they will offer technical assistance and advice to medical staff, technicians, and administrators. This position requires expertise in Biomedical Equipment Technology and general maintenance, and the staff member will also be responsible for performing other assigned duties.


  • Education: The candidate must have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or a military equivalent program, in Biomedical Engineering/Electronics, Electronic Technology, or another related field, with a minimum of four years' experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered with approval.

  • Having CBET or other certifications would be advantageous.

  • Experience working with OR/ESU/Vent equipment would also be beneficial.

Primary Job Duties

  1. Strictly adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

  2. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on clinical equipment.

  3. Install and calibrate clinical equipment.

  4. Conduct pre-purchase and contract evaluations for clinical equipment.

  5. Provide clinical support and training to staff on proper equipment operation.

  6. Occasionally travel to other facilities within an hour's distance.

  7. Comply with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program, including the Code of Conduct, relevant laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

  8. Ensure there are no government sanctions related to healthcare and/or financial practices.

  9. Perform any other assigned duties.


  1. Education: Minimum of an Associate's degree in Biomedical Electronics from an accredited institution.

  2. Experience: A minimum of 3-8 years of experience in repairing Bio-Medical Equipment and patient care systems. The salary will be commensurate with experience and training.

  3. Possess precise eye-hand control, excellent finger dexterity, and the ability to calibrate equipment. Also capable of performing computer data input and extraction, as well as working in delicate areas requiring precise manipulation.

  4. Excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external customers for equipment purchases and training.

  5. Ability to lift over 50 pounds, work in restricted and congested areas, and kneel, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time.

  6. Proficient in calculating equations using formulas to determine required power, troubleshooting, analyzing, and evaluating problems to find solutions.

  7. Must possess sufficient vision, hearing, and speaking abilities to perform job duties.

  8. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various locations within an hour's drive is required.

  9. Must have mechanical and electrical knowledge, as well as familiarity with electronic theory, technology, and test equipment. Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, computers, servers, networks, and Windows operating systems is also required as it relates to clinical equipment.
