BMET II / III

Job Summary:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET II/III) is responsible for repairing, testing, and calibrating clinical equipment, devices, instruments, and systems. They also inspect, install, and provide scheduled maintenance for clinical equipment. Additionally, the BMET provides technical assistance and advice to medical staff, technicians, and administrators. This role involves skilled tasks in Biomedical Equipment Technology and general maintenance. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Primary Job Duties:

  1. Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  2. Performs both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on clinical equipment.
  3. Installs and calibrates various types of clinical equipment.
  4. Offers clinical support and training to staff on proper equipment operation.
  5. Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program, including adherence to the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  6. Completes other assigned duties as required.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Must have a minimum of an Associate's degree in Biomedical Electronics or a related field from an accredited institution.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 4-5 years as a BMET in Biomedical Equipment repair and patient care systems.
  3. Possesses precise eye/hand control and excellent finger dexterity.
  4. Capable of calibrating equipment and performing computer data input-extraction.
  5. Ability to work in delicate areas requiring precise manipulation.
  6. Strong communication skills to interact with customers for equipment purchases and training.
  7. Able to lift over 50 pounds and work in restricted and congested areas.
  8. Comfortable with kneeling, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  9. Proficient in calculating equations using formulas, troubleshooting, and analyzing problems with necessary solutions.
  10. Must have sufficient vision, hearing, and speaking abilities to perform job duties.
  11. Possesses mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  12. Exhibits knowledge of electronic theory, technology, and test equipment.
  13. Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology in relation to clinical equipment.
  14. Basic understanding of computers, servers, networks, and Windows operating systems.
  15. Willingness to be on call after hours.

Additional Qualifications:

  • CBET or other certifications are a plus.

Selection Process:

  • All applicants will undergo a complete background search and drug screening before hire.

  • Valid US driver's license, clean driving record, and successful completion of criminal background and drug screening required.
