Certified Dairy Flavorist

Our company is a manufacturer of flavors and ingredients used by food and beverage manufacturers. We are currently seeking an experienced Dairy Flavorist to join our team in Grafton, WI. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing flavors, formulating food products, evaluating and validating products, and creating new food applications. Applicants must be members of the Society of Flavor Chemists and either have certification or actively be pursuing certification. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.

Job Summary:
As a Certified Dairy Taste Specialist, you will collaborate with internal teams and external customers to develop, improve, and optimize flavors for both dairy and non-dairy applications. You will utilize your expertise in flavor raw materials, natural ingredients, flavor chemistry, sensory perception, and flavor technology to create innovative flavor solutions tailored to each customer's specific product.

Key Responsibilities:
• Utilize your in-depth knowledge of flavor raw materials, natural ingredients, flavor chemistry, sensory perception, and flavor technology to craft and modify flavors for dairy and non-dairy products.
• Use laboratory and pilot plant equipment to lead technical projects and collaborate with manufacturing teams in scaling up flavor production.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, FEMA, GRAS, CFR, and USDA guidelines.
• Foster innovation by constantly exploring new ideas and approaches.
• Understand and apply various flavor production processes such as liquid blending, pastes, emulsions, and spray drying.
• Develop finished product formulations using Jeneil's technologies, ensuring they meet industrial, regulatory, and client-specific requirements in terms of profile, legality, cost, and stability.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Application Specialists to create customized presentations for key clients.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through cross-functional teamwork with Sales, Marketing, and Applications.
• Actively promote and commercialize innovative ideas, demonstrating feasibility and contributing to product success.
• Apply strong technical expertise and critical thinking to manage complex projects and balance multiple priorities and timelines.
• Utilize GC/MS and other analytical testing methods for flavor and ingredient formulations.
• Be self-motivated and embrace continuous learning.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging flavor development trends and processing techniques.
Minimum Requirements:
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related applied science.
• Have a minimum of 8 years of experience in flavor creation, preferably within the dairy industry.
• Possess at least 5 years of experience working in food or flavor companies, with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Be a member of the Society of Flavor Chemists and either have certification or actively be pursuing certification.
• Experience with innovation in product development is desirable.
• Have expertise in flavor formulation, including the ability to taste, evaluate, and translate sensory experiences into technical terminology.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Be team-oriented, curious, and committed to sharing information and collaborating with others.
This is a full-time position with benefits. You will be required to work on-site five days a week. We offer a competitive salary, year-end bonus, generous PTO, and healthcare coverage. Please note that we do not provide Visa sponsorship. Relocation assistance will be provided by the employer.
