  • Minimum: Master's degree in Mental Health, Social Work, or Nursing, Master's Degree in Art Therapy, Masters in Psychology Preferred: PhD
  • Required License: New York State Mental Health Counselor License, Social Work License to practice in NYS or New York State Nurse's License or License in Creative Arts Therapy; NYS Driver's license without violations consistent with health organization policy Certification: BLS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation. CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum: 1 year of experience in a mental health or hospital setting Preferred: 3 years of experience in a mental health setting
Position Summary:
  • The Clinical Primary Therapist is responsible for assisting clients, individually or in groups, to address mental health concerns. Utilizing knowledge and skill, the therapist promotes recovery and illness management among clients. Establishing therapy boundaries, creating a safe and supportive environment, and fostering client and family engagement are essential responsibilities. The therapist conducts comprehensive assessments, formulates treatment plans, and collaborates with clients and families to establish goals and interventions for effective treatment. Accurate and timely documentation in the client's medical record, coordination of care with clinic colleagues, and securing necessary treatment resources are crucial. Additionally, the therapist participates in the emergency department's on-call rotation for mental health crisis evaluations.
