Summary:


The Field Service Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and technical support of advanced machine tool equipment, controls, and related components. This role requires working directly at customer sites, delivering exceptional service, and ensuring maximum customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to customer locations to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment and controls.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance equipment performance and execute preventative maintenance routines.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving electrical and mechanical components.

  • Utilize technical manuals, documentation, and vendor resources to address and resolve machine problems.

  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment status, repairs, and service outcomes; ensure thorough and accurate reporting and documentation.

  • Ensure customer commitments are fulfilled on schedule to maintain a high level of satisfaction.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.

  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with industry advancements.

  • Maintain expert-level technical knowledge of the full range of products and technologies represented.

  • Stay informed about vendor innovations and incorporate new solutions as appropriate.

  • Perform related duties as required.

  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving responsibilities in alignment with organizational needs.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED from a technical school (Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred).

  • At least one year of relevant experience required.

  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as dial indicators and micrometers.

  • Experience with CNC controls and precision rotating machinery is an advantage.

  • Solid understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant business software.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 100% of the workweek), including overnight and domestic travel.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong decision-making skills, especially under pressure.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, listening, and organizational skills.
