Gas Combustion Engineer - Combustion Products
located in Lebanon, Tennessee.
Role Overview
As a Senior Engineer - New Product Development (Gas Combustion Product), you will collaborate with industry experts and academic institutions to pioneer new technologies and set industry standards. Additionally, you will serve as a technical mentor within the organization, guiding and supporting colleagues in your area of expertise to ensure project success.
Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize valuable projects for the company.
- Utilize specific CAE software, such as Solidworks, MATLAB, LabView, Minitab, EES, CFD, FEA, etc., and interpret the results.
- Effectively communicate complex technical information to internal teams.
- Collaborate with product design and manufacturing teams, leading best practice meetings, and making substantial contributions to operations.
- Demonstrate expertise in client processes, participate in functional best practices, and exhibit recognized contributions to operations.
- Achieve significant technical accomplishments for the company.
- Successfully balance and prioritize multiple projects within the designated schedule and budget.
- Assist in coordinating projects with external funding sources.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with at least 5 years of experience (OR) Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with at least 3 years of experience (OR) Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with gas combustion products, specifically in the water heating, gas furnace, or related heating equipment industry.
- Proficient in understanding water heating functions, including gas combustion, heat transfer, airflow, and exhaust venting.
- Experience working with various components used in gas water heaters such as blowers, gas valves, venturi, and burners.
- Familiarity with design, simulation, and analysis tools such as Solidworks, LabVIEW, EES, CFD, FEA, and ERP software (SAP or similar) will be beneficial.
- Background in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and electrical-mechanical products, as well as knowledge of regulatory and code compliance.
- Ability to model system layouts or direct design teams in developing system layouts and specifications. Knowledge of SolidWorks/CAD software is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills for reviewing costs and preparing budget reports.
- Willingness to travel for product testing at other sites, field installation reviews, and meetings with client engineering teams.
