Commercial Pricing Manager

Commercial Manager – Oil & Gas Marketing & Hedging
Location: Morgantown, WV or Houston, TX

Our client, a privately owned oil and gas exploration and production company with significant operations across the Appalachian Basin, is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Commercial Manager to lead their marketing and hedging initiatives. This role is central to driving revenue optimization across oil, natural gas, and NGL portfolios while managing market risk and fostering key industry relationships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans for crude oil and natural gas to secure competitive and long-term sales agreements.

  • Lead commercial negotiations to establish favorable terms in product sales and transportation contracts.

  • Oversee the marketing and trading budget, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and financial targets.

  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify pricing trends, emerging risks, and growth opportunities.

  • Build and maintain relationships with midstream providers, trading partners, and key customers.

  • Design and manage an effective hedging program utilizing financial instruments such as swaps, futures, and options.

  • Evaluate market dynamics and macroeconomic indicators to inform hedging decisions and mitigate price volatility.

  • Monitor and refine hedging strategies to enhance risk-adjusted returns and overall portfolio performance.

  • Present market insights, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes, market conditions, and pricing mechanisms affecting the oil and gas sector.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in gas marketing, energy trading, risk management, or related commercial roles within the oil and gas industry.

  • Proven success in developing and executing energy marketing strategies and hedging programs.

  • Strong understanding of commodity pricing, trading markets, and financial risk management tools.

  • Hands-on experience with derivatives and hedging instruments in energy markets.

  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong negotiation and relationship management capabilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial modeling; experience with trading or risk platforms is a plus.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing priorities.


Location Options:
This position offers flexibility and can be based in either Morgantown, WV or Houston, TX, depending on candidate preference.
