Commodity Manager - Engine Components Manufacturing

 


Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000 per year
Relocation: Paid Relocation Available
Travel: Up to 30% (Domestic and International)

A leading organization in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Commodity Manager to lead global sourcing initiatives and drive supplier performance. This strategic role is critical to optimizing the supply base, improving total cost of ownership, and supporting operational efficiency across the company’s international footprint.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute global commodity strategies aligned with business and operational objectives

  • Identify, select, and develop suppliers; lead ongoing performance management and evaluations

  • Negotiate Master Supply Agreements to secure favorable pricing, quality standards, and delivery terms

  • Monitor global commodity markets, technology trends, and product lifecycle developments to inform sourcing strategy

  • Streamline the supply chain, reduce lead times, and identify continuous improvement opportunities

  • Maintain and oversee supplier scorecards, conduct quality audits, and ensure regulatory compliance

  • Ensure all sourcing and procurement activities align with legal, corporate, and industry standards

  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, finance, and quality teams to support cross-functional goals

  • Analyze and report on material cost variances (EPPV/APPV) to ensure financial accuracy and transparency


Qualifications – Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field
    OR 8+ years of relevant sourcing and supply chain experience

  • 5–7 years of proven success in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or supplier operations

  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of cost reduction and value creation

  • Deep understanding of procurement processes, quality systems, and supplier risk management

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience sourcing engine components or working within complex manufacturing environments

  • Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement methodologies

  • Background in supplier auditing and quality control best practices

  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating supplier capabilities and tracking market dynamics


Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Regular use of computer systems; occasional lifting (25–50 lbs), walking, standing, and reaching overhead

  • Standard office and travel conditions apply
