Our client, an esteemed law firm acknowledged in the 2024 edition of Best Law Firms®, is seeking a highly-driven Associate Attorney specializing in Condominium & Homeowner Associations to join their Litigation Practice Group situated in Chicago. This presents a fantastic opportunity to engage in intricate legal matters pertaining to condominiums, homeowner associations, and various common-interest community organizations, all while providing guidance on intricate governance and litigation concerns to clients.
Candidate Profile:

Applicant must possess a JD from a leading law school with a distinguished academic background.

Active membership in the Illinois Bar is required.

5–8 years of substantial experience advocating for condominium, homeowner, and other common-interest community associations is preferred.

Proven expertise in defending directors and officers of non-profit corporations is necessary.

Prior experience in managing cases related to professional negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, and tort claims is essential.

Proficiency in negotiating resolutions for disputes between owners and board of directors is a plus.

Familiarity with Illinois statutes governing community associations and governing documents such as Declarations, Bylaws, and Rules & Regulations is expected.
Key Responsibilities:

Represent condominium and homeowner associations in legal proceedings and governance issues.

Safeguard against claims involving breach of fiduciary duty, professional negligence, contract disputes, and allegations of discrimination.

Provide legal counsel on matters concerning governing documents and compliance with regulations.

Mediate and resolve disputes between community boards and homeowners.

Collaborate with a team of attorneys on intricate community association litigation cases.
