Construction Project Manager – Concrete

Our client is a renowned commercial contractor specializing in concrete construction and design-build general contracting. They have successfully completed notable projects such as the New Tom Bradly International Terminal, Wilshire-Curson high-rise residential tower, The Source car parking structure, and Gilead Pharmaceuticals Corporate Campus and Distribution Center. As a union company, they employ a skilled workforce of 800 tradesmen and 40 office staff. They are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Concrete Construction Manager to join their team in Woodland Hills, CA.

Requirements: To be considered for this position, candidates must have prior experience working on large-scale projects, a thorough understanding of construction management software, and the ability to adhere to strict formal processes. The company primarily undertakes contracts ranging from $15 million to $150 million and operates as a 100% at-risk contractor specializing in lump sum fixed price contracts.

Concrete Construction Manager

Job Duties
The Concrete Construction Manager will oversee projects ranging from $10 million to $35 million. These projects primarily involve the construction of Class A high rise buildings and multi-story parking structures in Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management
  2. In-depth knowledge of scoping, buyout, cost control, and effective communication
  3. Familiarity with Prolog and Converge software is a plus

Additional Notes on Concrete Construction Managers:

We are seeking highly qualified Project Managers with the following skills and experience:

  1. Minimum of 5 consecutive years as a Project Managerin the commercial building industry, with a focus on ground-up new construction. Experience with multi-story buildings is preferred, and residential projects or tenant improvements will not be considered.
  2. Willingness to work on both Design-Build General Contracting Projects and Structural Concrete Subcontractor projects. Design-Build projects primarily involve large parking structures and mid-size office buildings, while Concrete projects encompass a wide range, including high-rise towers, transportation and aviation facilities, office buildings, education institutions, multi-family podiums, government buildings, hotels, green energy projects, NASA, and military projects.
  3. Ability to perform structural concrete work as a Union Contractor
  4. Proficiency in computerized project management software
  5. Responsibility for cost control, including reviewing weekly budgets, coordinating with the project superintendent, and reporting on project P&L, issues, events, payment applications, and schedule
  6. Ability to write scopes for subcontracts and purchase orders
  7. Exceptional skills in liaising between the project site, owner, and/or general contractor
  8. Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and specifications in detail
  9. A willingness to learn and adapt to the company's project management processes
  10. Strong team player mentality, with the ability to take on hands-on work rather than delegating tasks
  11. Candidates should be located in or willing to relocate to Woodland Hills, CA. Out-of-state candidates will not be considered.
  12. Candidates with over 40 years of experience in the industry will not be considered. The ideal maximum experience is around 30 years.
  13. Candidates who have held executive positions such as Director or Manager will not be considered. The company requires individuals who are actively involved in project management tasks.
  14. Candidates who have a history of frequently changing companies with short periods of employment (2 years or less) will not be considered.
