Automation Engineer
Location: Madison, WI (On-site)

Our client is currently seeking an Automation Engineer to join their team at their Madison, WI office. In this position, you will take the lead in designing and implementing advanced control systems that redefine security and access control solutions. From the initial planning stages all the way to the final installation, you will play a central role in delivering exceptional solutions for a wide range of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and program integrated access control, surveillance, and HMI/PLC control systems.
  • Create HMI interfaces using Wonderware software.
  • Design system and network architecture to ensure smooth operation.
  • Develop hardware and panel schematics.
  • Innovate by integrating various systems into cohesive solutions.
  • Create detailed specifications and documentation for internal and external use.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with HMI/SCADA software (preferably Wonderware InTouch/ArchestrA).
  • Hands-on experience in PLC programming (Omron, Modicon Momentum, or Allen Bradley 5000 preferred).
  • Knowledge of electrical controls system design; AutoCAD skills would be a plus.
  • Strong networking and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with video, intercom, and access control systems.
  • Bonus: Experience in VB.NET or C# programming.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD or similar applications.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in PLC and/or HMI programming.
  • Ability to pass government background checks.
  • Willingness to travel during weekdays, with minimal overnight travel.
