Controls System Engineer

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer to design and develop machine and process control systems, ensuring customer satisfaction and project success. This position entails a combination of field and remote work, with occasional travel to customer sites.


  • Oversee projects from inception to installation and customer approval.
  • Monitor project costs and deadlines.
  • Create project milestones, parts lists, and electrical schematics.
  • Conduct programming and development of robotic cells and control systems.
  • Offer technical guidance and assistance to internal teams and clients.
  • Lead training sessions for customers in your area of expertise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Maintain a positive P&L statement and adhere to project budgets.


Functional Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron).
  • Experience with SCADA/HMI Applications (Wonderware, Ignition, Rockwell FactoryTalk).
  • Proficiency in CAD Development Software (AutoCAD/ePlan).
  • Skilled in system troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (NEC, NFPA, UL).
  • Ability to manage projects.
  • PLC and HMI Programming/Design.
  • Code Development/Programming from scratch.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft CRM, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, AutoCAD, ePlan, and Solidworks.
  • Possibility of occasional remote work.
  • Travel is a requirement.


  • Education:
    • Some college with a focus on Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
      • Ideally, an Associates or BA/BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills are necessary.
      • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Experience working with customers and vendors is preferred.
