Job Overview for the Controls & Automation Application Engineer: As a part of the Engineering and Sales team, the Controls & Automation Application Engineer will play a crucial role in the Controls and Automation Product Platform. This position entails assisting with various day-to-day activities and witnessing the complete process of product sales design, from concept to field application.

Key Responsibilities of the Controls & Automation Application Engineer:

  • Generate detailed drawings and schematics using SolidWorks, EPLAN, and AutoCAD/DraftSight.
  • Analyze customer requirements and provide solutions for application challenges.
  • Manage Engineering Change Orders for the product lines.
  • Conduct review meetings with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams.
  • Initiate and analyze test requests, taking appropriate action based on the results.
  • Provide engineering support on the manufacturing floor as needed.
  • Assist with on-site inspections and support commissioning activities.
  • Engage directly with customers and sales staff to guide decision-making and find tailored solutions.
  • Review designs of industrial networking and automation systems to specify control, energy, and data transmission solutions.
  • Create component, product, and/or layout and detailed drawings and schematics using SolidWorks, EPLAN, and AutoCAD/DraftSight.
  • Collaborate with engineering support teams to address application challenges and meet customer requirements.
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for the product line(s).

Education & Experience for the Controls & Automation Application Engineer :

  • Associate's degree (A.S.) in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, or Engineering Technology, and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD 2018 or newer, SolidWorks, and EPLAN preferred.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking, mobile electrification, and industrial control systems is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Sales and/or Customers regarding application and technical requirements.
  • Proficiency in Office365 applications is essential.
