Senior Control Systems Engineer (Oil and Gas / petrochem)
📍 Location: Sugar Land, TX
💰 Salary: $160,000 – $180,000 per year
Are you a seasoned automation expert with a passion for innovative control systems and project leadership? Our client is looking for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to take charge of complex automation projects, from concept through commissioning. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working on state-of-the-art control solutions in a collaborative and growth-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, configuration, and testing of advanced control systems

Develop and optimize PLC/DCS programming, HMI graphics, and detailed control narratives

Reverse engineer outdated control logic and generate comprehensive documentation
-
Ensure all automation solutions meet safety, compliance, and quality standards
-
Collaborate directly with clients to define project requirements and deliver results
-
Support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), loop checks, system startup, and commissioning activities
What You Bring:
Required Qualifications:

10+ years of hands-on experience in control systems engineering and automation
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology

Expertise in Rockwell / Allen Bradley PLCs, programming, and HMI development
-
Solid understanding of P&IDs and control panel/enclosure layouts

Proven leadership in managing engineering teams and multiple automation projects
Preferred Skills:
-
Experience with PlantPAx and Batch control systems
-
Background in legacy control system upgrades and reverse engineering

Strong technical writing and documentation abilities
