Corporate Director of Procurement

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader for the position of Chief Procurement Officer. This role is based in Boston, MA and is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies to ensure the procurement of all necessary ingredients, packaging, and indirect goods and services. The Chief Procurement Officer will maintain relationships with suppliers, monitor market trends, and ensure competitive pricing while maintaining high quality and service standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute forward-looking procurement and buying strategies to ensure long-term supply and cost certainty
  • Provide guidance to senior leadership on identified risks and propose alternative solutions
  • Create a balanced scorecard to measure cost, quality, service, and people related metrics
  • Establish a year-over-year productivity cost reduction plan to meet business objectives
  • Support new product launches and foster innovation
  • Build professional relationships with senior leaders to align the procurement vision
  • Analyze monthly purchase price variance and review indirect procurement cost plans regularly
  • Take a hands-on approach and be willing to address business needs directly
  • Coach and develop the procurement team through various training and development initiatives
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure a safe work environment

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role, candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and have experience in contract negotiation. They must also be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, with an MBA preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience is required, preferably in the food or beverage industry. The candidate should have experience in procurement of agricultural commodities and packaging, as well as indirect procurement. Experience in global sourcing is a plus. Strong negotiation and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential.
