This firm is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join their widely recognized Cyber, Privacy & AI Practice Group in Washington, D.C. They were even named Law360’s Cybersecurity & Privacy Practice Group of the Year. With a focus on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI matters, the team provides comprehensive legal counsel including regulatory compliance, product development, incident response, litigation, and regulatory defense for some of the most prominent companies worldwide.
Candidate Profile:
- Hold a JD from a top-tier law school, with a strong academic record.
- Active Bar Admission in D.C.
- 4–7 years of substantive experience in cyber, privacy, and AI law.
- Experience advising clients on state and federal privacy laws and conducting due diligence for M&A, financings, and commercial transactions.
- Experience in handling class action litigation and/or regulatory defense.
- Familiarity with data-driven technologies, including AI/ML and biometrics, as well as global regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of state privacy laws, HIPAA, SCA, PIPA, CIPA, ECPA, Patriot/Cloud Act, GDPR, and GLBA is a plus.
- Prior experience defending enforcement actions by state attorneys general, FTC, OCR/HHS, SEC Cybersecurity Unit, and EU regulators is highly valued.
- Background in incident response.
- Preference for candidates with large law firm experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on a wide range of privacy, cybersecurity, and AI-related issues, including regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and governance programs.
- Provide strategic counsel on data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and other global regulatory frameworks.
- Assist in due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and financings, evaluating privacy and cybersecurity risks.
- Represent clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions before the FTC, SEC, DOJ, and global regulators.
- Manage incident response efforts, including data breach investigations, regulatory notifications, ransomware negotiations, and cyberattack mitigation strategies.
- Handle class action litigation and defend clients in high-stakes cybersecurity and AI-related lawsuits.
