Our client, a highly regarded international law firm ranked among the top 50 in AmLaw, is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join its renowned Cybersecurity, Privacy, and AI Practice Group located in the vibrant city of Philadelphia. Their expertise extends to providing comprehensive legal counsel on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI matters such as regulatory compliance, product development, incident response, litigation, and regulatory defense for major global companies.

Profile of the Ideal Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a JD from a top-tier law school with a stellar academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in Pennsylvania is required.
  • They should have 4-7 years of substantial experience in the field of cyber, privacy, and AI law.
  • They must have hands-on experience advising clients on both state and federal privacy laws and have conducted due diligence in various legal matters such as M&A, financings, and commercial transactions.
  • Experience in class action litigation and/or regulatory defense is essential.
  • They should be familiar with data-driven technologies including AI/ML and biometrics, as well as global regulatory frameworks.
  • A plus would be knowledge of state privacy laws, HIPAA, SCA, PIPA, CIPA, ECPA, Patriot/Cloud Act, GDPR, and GLBA.
  • Prior experience in defending enforcement actions brought by state attorneys general, FTC, OCR/HHS, SEC Cybersecurity Unit, and EU regulators will be highly valued.
  • A background in incident response is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a large law firm is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice to clients on a diverse range of issues concerning privacy, cybersecurity, and AI, including regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and governance programs.
  • Offer strategic counsel on data protection laws, such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and other relevant global regulatory frameworks.
  • Assist in due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, and financings, by evaluating potential privacy and cybersecurity risks.
  • Represent clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions before entities such as the FTC, SEC, DOJ, and global regulators.
  • Manage incident response efforts including data breach investigations, regulatory notifications, ransomware negotiations, and the creation of cyberattack mitigation strategies.
  • Handle class action litigation and defend clients in significant lawsuits related to cybersecurity and AI.
