Dairy Applications Scientist (Food and Beverage Industry – Flavors and Ingredients)

Location: Cedarburg, WI
Salary: $60K–$130K + Annual Bonus (5–15%)
Relocation assistance available

Must-Haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or a related field (Master’s or PhD a strong plus)

• Hands-on experience in dairy formulation, benchtop applications, or a strong interest in dairy R&D

• Understanding of fermentation chemistry, enzyme modified cheese (EMC), and dairy science

• Ability to work full-time at the bench in a lab or pilot plant environment

• Strong collaboration, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced setting

• Candidates must currently live and work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)

What You’ll Do:

• Evaluate and validate flavor and food formulations for customer-driven projects

• Scale up kitchen/lab-scale formulas to pilot plant and production using processing equipment

• Support initiatives such as flavor enhancement, masking, cost reduction, clean label improvements, and product matching

• Prepare application kits and concept demos for use in sales presentations and trade events

• Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, quality, regulatory, and operations teams

• Manage and prioritize multiple projects with defined objectives and timelines

• Maintain accurate records, follow SOPs, and contribute to continuous innovation

What We’re Looking For:

• Solid knowledge of dairy product development, scale-up processes, and spray drying

• Experience in flavor application and formulation using ingredients and functional components

• Strong skills in analytical thinking, lab instrumentation, and technical report writing

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across teams and with customers

• A team player who maintains a clean workspace and actively contributes to team success

• Resilience and responsiveness to feedback in a fast-moving environment
