Control Systems Engineer - DeltaV

Job Summary

Our company is currently seeking a highly skilled control systems engineer to join our team in Alpharetta, GA. This individual will be responsible for programming, configuring systems, documenting processes, conducting factory acceptance testing, and overseeing field start-up and commissioning activities, particularly focused on DeltaV systems.


Minimum Requirements

· Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and have at least 5 years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and experience

· Extensive experience and proficiency in programming DeltaV Distributed Control Systems

· Strong knowledge and proficiency in Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and OPC communications protocols

· Familiarity with control panels, panel wiring drawings, and field wiring diagrams

· Thorough understanding of P&IDs, including the ability to develop new P&IDs, review existing P&IDs, and create Instrument & I/O Lists from P&IDs

· Knowledge of ISA tagging conventions


· Experience and proficiency in programming PLCs, preferably Allen-Bradley

· Familiarity with HMIs such as Inductive Automation Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, and GE iFIX

· Experience with other platforms such as Omni Flow Computer, ROC, and Load Metering Devices

· Ability to develop operational and technical manuals, including training guides, HMI manuals, and operating procedures

· Knowledge of Electrical Protection Relays

· Experience with Historian systems and external notification systems (text, email, mobile app, etc.)

· Familiarity with DeviceNet and/or Profibus communications protocols


· Contribute to the development of logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and functional narratives

· Assist in the development and/or review of control panel design packages, field wiring diagrams, conduit & cable schedules, and other E&I package deliverables

· Participate in field verification and user requirements gathering walkdowns

· Develop programming for DCS/PLC/HMI systems

· Conduct factory acceptance testing and support field start-up and commissioning, including troubleshooting activities

· Assist in client training and provide after-hours support as needed

· Collaborate with Senior Engineering Lead(s) and Project Manager(s) to ensure quality deliverables and adherence to budget

· Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including air travel
