Full job description

Our client, located in Memphis, TN, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Design Build Lead Engineer who will report directly to the Site Engineering Manager. This is a full-time position responsible for improving all aspects of managing electrical and instrumentation for the site.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex Electrical and Instrumentation problems through design, redesign, application, and reliability-centered maintenance techniques.
  • Have knowledge of all instrumentation devices such as transmitters, controllers, transducers, signal conditioners, valves, limit and proximity switches
  • Perform E/I loop checks, calibrations, and interlock testing
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all new equipment E&I related design and commissioning during both normal working hours and off hours
  • Develop guidelines, inspection/test/work procedures, standards, documentation methods, and policies for Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) to achieve world-class level
  • Provide troubleshooting flow charts and standard works to enhance troubleshooting technique and reduce troubleshooting time.
  • Lead, troubleshoot, support, plan, coordinate, and problem-solve issues related to E&I
  • Interact effectively with Process Engineers, Capital Engineers, Production Engineers, Business Leaders, Planners, Operators, Shift Leaders, and Production Engineers to resolve strategic E&I maintenance and minor mechanical issues.
  • Manage strategic implementation of E&I capital projects, as well as capital engineering process improvements (drawing, spares, design management) to maximize manufacturing rates, yields, efficiencies, and maintainability
  • Improve process control using Programmable Logic Control (PLC), HMI Programming, AC/DC Inverter Drives, Motor Controls, Experion DCS, and electrical power distribution to increase operating efficiencies. Familiarity with SAP, MS Project, Meridian, AutoCad, Electrical Design Software Suite, and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required for this position.
  • Utilize various test and inspection instruments to assess equipment condition and repair requirements, including NDT and PdM technologies.
  • Use advanced statistical tools to track and analyze trend data, perform calculations, communicate performance, predict remaining life and failure expectancy, and improve MTBF of equipment.
  • Work in a design team environment to develop equipment control narratives, E&I equipment design, equipment upgrades, and drawings for all electrical equipment scope and operations that provide information to EPC vendors (design and construction).
  • Support and lead E&I, DCS, PLC, and process control programming efforts for capital projects on site and in-field support/evaluation. Prepare monthly reports.
  • Perform inspections, tests, calculations, evaluations, repair recommendations, contractor coordination, and repair work for electrical integrity.
  • Support MOC program for changes required to site databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of AutoCad, E&I Design Software, DCS/Controls/Programming
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and autonomously.
