Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year

Job Summary of the Product Development Engineer: The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire product development process, from conceptualization to production. Your primary role will involve creating new designs and updating existing designs, ensuring that all design requirements are met. This will involve using various software programs such as AutoCAD 2D, Inventor 3D, and others to prepare drawings, sketches, assembly drawings, and detail drawings for manufacturing. You will also be responsible for maintaining the database of standard and custom BOM and collaborating with purchasing personnel to source specialty items. While you will have the autonomy to make basic decisions, you will have the support and guidance of senior engineering staff for more complex questions or problems.

Job Responsibilities of the Product Development Engineer:

· Utilize AutoCAD and Inventor software to develop and refine designs.

· Generate detailed 2D and 3D drawings for fabrication and assembly, ensuring proper fit and functionality.

· Apply engineering principles and best practices to address design challenges, utilizing statics, strength of materials, dynamics, and stress analysis.

· Create final drawings, checking part dimensions, materials, and the overall integrity of the design.

· Produce all necessary drawings for complete assembly according to sales order or specifications.

· Lead design review meetings with production team leaders.

· Collaborate with salesperson and vendors to explore design possibilities.

· Review written specifications and compare them to sales drawings, updating information as necessary.

· Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering safe, accurate, and timely designs.

· Finalize designs and working drawings in collaboration with salesperson and vendors.

· Assist in documentation of engineering change orders for revisions to standard drawings.

· Create sales drawings for potential contracts using AutoCAD 2D.

· Document and distribute project change orders initiated by the sales team.

· Manage multiple projects at various stages of completion.

· Contribute to process improvements within the department and provide ideas for analytical tools.

· Compile and communicate the requirements of purchased parts for each project to the Purchasing Department.

Education & Experience of the Product Development Engineer:

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

· Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience with a strong track record in 3D modeling.

· At least 1 year of experience using AutoCAD 2D.

· Able to demonstrate expertise in managing complex product design projects and solving problems.

· Proven leadership ability with a focus on cross-functional collaboration and influence.

· Strong understanding and application of lean principles and continuous improvement.
