Job Title: Product Development Engineer

Location: Manchester, IA

Salary: $80-100K plus additional incentives

Job Summary of the Product Development Engineer: As a member of the Engineering team, the Product Development Engineer will be responsible for collaborating with a group of engineers to design and develop mechanical products and systems. They will ensure that the final product meets the expectations and requirements of the customers.

Qualifications of Product Development Engineer:

  • Conduct and complete engineering projects in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Investigate mechanical systems and products through research, and apply principles of mechanics, hydraulics, and materials.
  • Devise and implement feasibility tests to confirm the capabilities of systems and products.
  • Create mechanical products based on customer requirements.
  • Improve manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment to reduce costs and enhance efficiency in fabrication, assembly, and installation of components.
  • Ensure quality of systems and products through the design of effective testing methods.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends to prepare product reports.
  • Provide engineering information and respond to inquiries and requests from stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations to maintain product and company reputation.
  • Maintain the product and company database by entering data and writing computer programs.

Responsibilities of the Product Development Engineer:

· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.

· Knowledge of heavy equipment engineering is a plus.

· Experience ranging from recently graduated to 5+ years.

· Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Excel and design software systems are necessary.

· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external contacts.

· Possess analytical and technical skills to understand business practices and identify automation opportunities.

· Functional understanding of cost accounting is required.

· Must be innovative and embrace lean enterprise principles and practices.

· Ability to quickly learn new tools and systems.

· Ability to not only identify problems, but also implement effective solutions.
