JOB TITLE: Director of Emergency Services and Critical Care


The Director of Emergency Services and Critical Care is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Emergency Department and ICU. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving department efficiency, quality of care, and patient satisfaction. They must also possess the ability to analyze data and utilize emergency department performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.

This role requires the implementation of strategies and activities to ensure exceptional patient safety, quality of care, and an outstanding patient and family experience. The Director of Emergency Services and Critical Care will promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication to ensure coordinated care across departments. They will also be responsible for the supervision and oversight of Critical Care areas, the Emergency Department, and the Medic 55 ALS Program.

The successful candidate will have experience in implementing best practices and innovative strategies to enhance performance metrics and the overall customer experience. They will also have a strong ability to build positive relationships with staff and physicians. The Director of Emergency Services and Critical Care should be a visible and engaged leader with a willingness to mentor and coach.


  • Minimum of a Master's degree in nursing or a related field (e.g., MBA, MPA)

License Requirements:

  • Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Required certification: Emergency Nursing Certification (to be obtained within one year), BLS, ACLS, PALS through the RQI system during clinical orientation, Basic Coronary Care (to be obtained within 6 months of hire), CPI certification (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)


  • CEN or relevant certification strongly desired
  • TNCC certification


  • 5 years of nursing experience in Critical Care
  • 3 years of experience in the Emergency Department
  • 3 years of progressive leadership in an acute care hospital environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Meditech

This is a full-time or part-time position with a salary range of $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year.
