Director of Facilities

We are currently seeking a Facilities Director for our client partners at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI, specifically for the UNION account. The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 5 years of experience as a Director of Facilities, with a proven track record of successfully managing skilled mechanical trades, grounds, and environmental and custodial services in a union campus environment. Responsibilities will include overseeing fully integrated facilities services, from grounds and custodial services to operations. As the Facilities Director, you will report directly to the District Manager and be responsible for managing the budget and leading our team to achieve excellent customer satisfaction for all academic, administrative, and off-site campus buildings. A valid driver's license is required for this position.

In this role, the Facilities Director will be responsible for budget reporting, CAPEX planning, and maintaining consistent interaction with our Campus Finance team to ensure meticulous oversight of day-to-day operations within the Facilities team.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Extensive technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, architectural, landscape, and energy management.
  • Proven leadership experience in Facilities Management, with measurable results and achievements.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a strong grasp of contract management.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and financial expertise, including a solid understanding of P&L.
  • Outstanding customer service, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with an emphasis on staff development and team building.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) designation is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Utilize your leadership skills and technical expertise in Facilities Management to enhance existing and new client programs. This includes short- and long-range planning, construction and renovation projects, preventative and corrective maintenance, energy management, grounds and landscaping, and janitorial services.

The Facilities Operations Director will oversee facilities maintenance operations for a single unit, including the maintenance of buildings and property. This role is responsible for managing the preventative maintenance and reactive repair of skilled trades, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and utilities. Additionally, the Director will be in charge of hiring, training, and supervising staff, professionals, and management. Creating a safe and efficient working environment is crucial for optimal business performance. The Director may also oversee construction work and manage other essential services, such as grounds keeping, laundry, food, security, inventory, and mail services.

Basic Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least 5 years of management experience.
  • At least 5 years of functional experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 full years of experience as a Director of Facilities in a university or campus setting, managing skilled mechanical trades, grounds, and environmental and custodial services within a union campus environment. An exceptional level of professionalism is expected.
