Director of Nursing / Long Term Care

Long-term Care Nursing Director

Location: Joshua Tree, CA

Salary: $165,000 – $195,000 per year

The Long-term Care Nursing Director is responsible for overseeing the nursing program at the hospital. They work closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure the highest standards of patient care. They provide guidance to management, nursing staff, and the hospital CEO and help develop policies and performance standards in alignment with Tenet standards. They also interpret nursing service policies and objectives to staff and community groups while adhering to budgetary constraints and targets set by the Balanced Score Card.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Establish departmental policies and procedures.

2. Serve on committees and provide direction for the facility.

3. Take on a leadership role in daily operations and make appropriate decisions.

4. Conduct daily rounds on residents, nursing staff, and families to ensure positive outcomes and supervise nursing managers.

5. Coordinate emergency response efforts in a calm and efficient manner.

6. Prepare annual operational and capital budgets.

7. Attend care conferences to ensure resident needs are being addressed.

8. Participate in facility quality improvement meetings and set goals for performance improvement.

9. Maintain regular communication with the medical director and staff physicians.

10. Ensure accurate and cooperative communication with the Acute Hospital.

11. Market the facility through phone calls, visits, and distribution of brochures.

12. Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.

Physical Demands:

· Frequent standing/walking

· Occasional physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds)

· Frequent reaching, stooping, bending

· Frequent sitting and computer use

· Occasional kneeling and crouching

Working Conditions:

· Exposed to primarily office temps and conditions

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience:

· Associates degree in Nursing, BSN preferred

· 5 years of experience as an RN in a SNF or acute care setting

· 3 years of experience as a nurse manager

· Current RN License

· Current CPR certification

Ideal Candidate:

  • 3+ years of nursing leadership experience
  • 5 years of experience as an RN in a SNF or Acute Care Setting
