Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the Nursing Director of our Skilled Nursing Facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the facility nursing program, ensuring compliance with Nurse Practice Act, State and Federal regulations, and policies and procedures.


  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred
  • Valid RN license in the state employed
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Three years of experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or equivalent supervisory nursing experience

Job Functions:

  • Conduct daily rounds on the unit
  • Manage and evaluate nursing staff, including hiring, disciplining, and performance evaluation
  • Interview and hire new nursing staff
  • Plan and facilitate meetings and committees to address resident care issues
  • Review time sheets for accuracy
  • Develop and manage systems to ensure clinical competencies
  • Participate in the recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing staff
  • Identify training needs
  • Initiate studies to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing services
  • Develop and manage the nurse-on-call system
  • Create and manage the department budget
  • Investigate and resolve residents/family/employee concerns
  • Ensure timely completion of competency evaluations and performance reviews
  • Participate in the Employee Recognition Program
  • Proactively address survey and standards of care issues
  • Develop and manage staffing scheduler system
  • Plan and guide the professional development of nursing staff
  • Ensure adequate nursing staff availability based on facility/census requirements
  • Collect data and compile reports within deadlines
  • Participate in the facility's Performance Improvement Program
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, nursing policies, and procedures
  • Perform other assigned tasks
  • Ensure adherence to pharmacy, dietary, and physician consults
  • Assume complete responsibilities for the center in the absence of the Administrator

  • Ability to react decisively in emergency situations
  • Effective organizational and prioritization abilities
  • Knowledge of clinical staff training techniques
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality
  • Familiarity with Nurse Practice Act, state and federal regulations, and nursing standards


  • RN licensed in Michigan
  • Long-term care experience as Director of Nursing
  • Skilled nursing supervisory experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
