Director of Operations

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Head of Operations to lead and supervise the daily operations of our manufacturing facility located in Rockford, IL. With a workforce of over 200 employees, this position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, logistics, safety, and overall operational performance. Working closely with department managers, the Head of Operations will drive operational efficiency, ensure high product quality, and align with corporate objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, extensive experience in manufacturing operations, and a proven track record of implementing process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, quality assurance, supply chain management, and maintenance.
  • Devise and execute strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish goals and develop long-term plans for production and facility expansion.
  • Lead and manage a team consisting of department heads, supervisors, and production staff to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and production targets.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while fostering a strong safety culture across the facility.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize data-driven insights to enhance production performance.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives, lean manufacturing techniques, and other industry best practices to streamline operations.
  • Promote accountability and cultivate a culture of teamwork and collaboration among employees.
  • Oversight of budget management and resource allocation to achieve financial goals.
  • Establish effective relationships with suppliers, vendors, and external partners to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues as they arise.
  • Lead and support talent development and succession planning to ensure strong leadership at all levels within the facility.

Qualifications:

    • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
    • Possess 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
    • Demonstrate proven experience managing large teams of 200+ employees and handling complex operations.
    • Show proficiency in production processes, supply chain management, and lean manufacturing principles.
    • Have experience in budget planning, cost control, and financial analysis.
    • Exhibit excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
