Director of Quality / Sr. QA Manager
Salary: $185,000 to $225,000 + Full Benefits + Paid Relocation + SIGNING BONUS
The Director of Quality Control position entails overseeing all aspects of quality assurance in the product development process. This role involves managing two major manufacturing locations and leading a team of over 40 quality personnel, with 13 individuals reporting directly to this position.
As the Director of Quality Control, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in products and processes to ensure customer satisfaction and the achievement of division quality, delivery, and cost targets. In this role, you will collaborate extensively with program leadership, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain personnel. This is a highly involved leadership position that requires hands-on participation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee quality engineering and inspection functions, including quality planning, compliance monitoring, and validation for programs, hardware, software, and inspections.
- Resolve technical challenges and ensure successful execution of tactical plans. Develop and implement the strategic vision for the quality department.
- Create and implement strategic quality initiatives and programs in support of the Electronic Warfare Division, adhering to company procedures, government standards, and directives, and proven industry methodology.
- Promote a strong culture of quality that engages every employee and enhances the customer experience through attention to detail and defect prevention.
- Work closely with program teams and functional organizations to ensure all phases of the product life cycle meet mission requirements.
- Facilitate seamless hand-off during product transition to production, including design reviews and quality concurrent engineering.
- Maintain quality records and provide necessary information for internal and external customer responses.
- Develop, review, and verify compliance of work package descriptions for quality tasks.
- Improve the efficiency of the quality organization through leadership, training, and process improvement.
- Analyze key quality measures and develop plans for zero defects, improved yields, and reduced rework.
- Maintain certification and compliance efforts for relevant standards and certifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Electrical/Mechanical/Software Engineering or equivalent, with at least 12 years of related experience, or a graduate degree with at least 10 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of quality management or operations leadership experience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including communication, facilitation, consulting, coaching, and influence.
- Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and achieve timely results.
- Collaborative style and ability to work across multiple functional areas to drive results.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of quality and reliability methods and procedures for hardware and software systems in the aerospace or electronics industry.
- Certification as a Greenbelt or Blackbelt, or proven education/work history in leading and implementing projects.
- Experience with Configuration Control management practices.
- Proficiency with Agile Oracle, Windchill, Cincom, and/or Doors software suites
- Experience with J-STD and IPC standard implementation.
- Preferred certification from ASQ and experience managing AS9100 certified businesses.
- Willingness to travel up to 20 percent.
- Active TS security clearance or ability to obtain a DoD TS security clearance.
