Position Summary:
The Routing Dispatcher is responsible for creating, managing, and adjusting delivery routes for drivers and customers. This role reports to either the Transportation Manager or Routing Supervisor and typically works a Sunday through Thursday shift. The Routing Dispatcher utilizes various routing and software systems, requiring strong attention to detail and process skills. Interaction with drivers, sales, transportation, warehouse, and customer service personnel may be required. The Routing Dispatcher functions as a team member, performing any assigned duties to ensure the smooth operation of the company.
Position Responsibilities:
- Create cost-effective delivery routes in compliance with Federal DOT guidelines, while maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction. Utilize the Roadnet application to manage and optimize delivery costs.
- Develop routing procedures and schedules that optimize the use of personnel and equipment, with a primary focus on driver safety.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the Roadnet application, including standard routes, customer delivery requirements, and various service time details.
- Generate and provide regular reports on costing, off-days, maintenance, customer service, and key performance indicators.
- Analyze previous day's routing results and make necessary adjustments to standard routes.
- Create maps and driving instructions for drivers who are unfamiliar with their assigned routes.
- Produce nightly driver manifest report and distribute accordingly.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
1-3 years of experience in distribution, logistics, transportation, or a related field.
Basic to intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in various software applications and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
3 - 5 years of experience in distribution, logistics, transportation routing, or related administrative work.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency in routing software applications (Roadnet, AS400) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
