The Construction Costs Analyst is responsible for accurately and promptly preparing bids for projects. They will select vendors/subcontractors, estimate crew compositions and production rates, and perform quantity take-offs based on a comprehensive understanding of the project scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Calculate the quantities of project components assigned by the lead estimator
• Conduct takeoffs and pricing for earthwork and underground (stormwater and wet utility) projects in the heavy civil sector
• Evaluate and estimate the costs of performing work using both self-perform and subcontract methods
• Visit project sites to gain insight into site conditions and limitations
• Collaborate with other members of the estimating team to build the estimate and input assigned items in Hard Dollar
• Review project plans and specifications
• Provide precise take-offs
• Analyze and input quotes in Hard Dollar
• Solicit subcontractors and vendors for their respective areas of work
• Assist in achieving DBE participation goals through vendor and subcontractor solicitations
• Establish relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and specialized services

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5-10 years of experience as an Estimator working on earthwork, grading or underground projects
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is preferable
• Field operations experience is highly desirable
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills; attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Additional working knowledge of Hard Dollar, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Agtek, and HCSS (Heavy Bid) is preferred but not required
• Willingness to relocate for assigned projects
