About the Role
The SpEd Inclusion Specialist plays a vital role in creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment for students with diverse learning needs. Located in Monroe, NC, this position focuses on identifying and addressing the unique academic, behavioral, and social challenges faced by students with disabilities. You will collaborate closely with students, teachers, and parents to develop personalized learning plans tailored to each student's capabilities and requirements. As a team member, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to implement appropriate accommodations and modifications to promote effective learning strategies. Additionally, you will provide targeted interventions and coordinate with specialists to ensure comprehensive support for each student. Your leadership will foster a positive learning atmosphere that enhances students' self-confidence and resilience. Moreover, you will be instrumental in advocating for students' rights and needs, while ensuring compliance with relevant educational policies and regulations. A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of students facing barriers to learning is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Conduct assessments to identify students' specific learning needs and monitor their progress.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide appropriate classroom accommodations and modifications.
- Design and deliver specialized instruction aligned with students' IEPs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and IEP implementation.
- Effectively communicate with parents and guardians regarding their child's development and progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in special education.
- Advocate for students' rights and needs within both the school and community.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree in special education or a related field.
- Possess a valid state teaching license with special education certification.
- Must be certified in an Exceptional Children (EC) area in North Carolina.
- Demonstrate experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Have a strong understanding of therapeutic and instructional strategies for exceptional learners.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with students, staff, and families.
- Capable of collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Display a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
