EHS Compliance Coordinator

Role Title

Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Coordinator

Location

Tiverton, Rhode Island

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) policies and procedures by overseeing personnel and accurately maintaining EHS management systems. Programs to be managed include but are not limited to:
    1. Air Permitting (Title V)
    2. Water Discharge Compliance (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Standards)
    3. Storm Water Management (EPA)
    4. Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan
    5. Facility Response Plan / Integrated Contingency Plan
    6. Compliance with OSHA and consensus standards (NFPA 70E, General Industry, Construction, Recordkeeping)
    7. OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)
    8. Hazardous Waste Management (EPA)
    9. Risk Management Program (EPA)
    10. Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
  • Ensure the submission of required regulatory reports for the site, working closely with oversight.
  • Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies, fostering a positive and collaborative relationship.
  • Manage the site’s Continuous Emissions Monitor and Data Acquisition and Handling Systems, working closely with the OEM to generate accurate reports and ensure timely submission.
  • Assist in setting site goals and implementing policies and programs to ensure consistent adherence to EHS compliance standards.
  • Support the plant's OSHA VPP Star program by promoting continuous improvement in safety and health programs and fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to operating personnel to ensure EHS compliance and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Participate in incident and near miss event investigations, contributing to root cause analysis and developing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Take part in regulatory and internal audits conducted at the site.
  • Stay updated on new and changing regulatory requirements related to EHS compliance at the site.
  • Provide support during off hours, nights, and weekends for events such as outages or emergency response.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field
  • Specialized knowledge and experience in Clean Air Act programs, along with general regulatory knowledge in other areas such as water quality, hazardous waste management, and emergency planning
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to drive for results and think strategically
  • Proven ability to collaborate and build consensus with internal and external stakeholders
