Electrical Controls Engineer (RJ-23234)

This role, reporting directly to the Machinery Manufacturing Manager, involves designing electrical control systems for heat seal packaging machinery. While the following list is not exhaustive, the engineer will be expected to take on any duties assigned by management, regardless of whether they are specifically stated here.
Your responsibilities will include:
Designing and developing machine controls for heat seal packaging machinery
Creating electrical schematics using AutoCAD Software or similar tools
Developing electrical enclosure panel layouts using AutoCAD or equivalent software
Compiling machine controls Bill of Materials using Syteline ERP system
Testing and debugging electrical control circuits
Integrating various inkjet, laser, or robotic systems
Programming machine control components such as A-B PLC’s, HMI’s, and others
Managing multiple projects
Assisting in machine manual development and quoting needs
Experience programming other types of PLC’s (e.g., Omron) and HMI’s is a plus
Effective collaboration with other engineering and assembly departments
Performing final machinery check-offs to ensure all systems are functioning properly
Providing technical support through phone assistance, visits, and other means
Offering technical assistance to machine assembly and sales teams as required
Communicating progress, goals, and customer expectations to department manager
This position is based in DeKalb, IL
If you meet the following criteria, we would love to hear from you:
Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Familiarity with electronic test instrumentation
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming is required
Experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting industrial equipment with electro-mechanical components such as relays, motor starters, temperature controllers, etc.
Proficiency in using AutoCAD software or similar tools for electrical designing
Basic computer skills in file processing, email, web navigation, and MS Office
Ability to adapt to new machine controls software and update as needed
Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Minimum of one year of experience (internships and co-op experiences are acceptable)
The annual base salary for this role ranges from $60,675.00 to $72,810.00
An annual discretionary bonus is awarded to eligible employees who achieve various business and individual goals set by the Company and department leader.
