Electrical Power Engineer – Protection & Control
📍 Alpharetta, GA | Full-Time | ~40% Travel (including air travel)
Experience: 4–8 Years
A growing leader in electrical power and control systems is seeking a skilled Electrical Power Engineer to support its expanding protection and control capabilities. Based in Alpharetta, GA, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact electrical infrastructure projects involving advanced SCADA integration, relay configuration, and field commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:

Configure and program SEL protection relays and RTACs, including logic, HMI development, and data concentrator functionality

Integrate electrical SCADA systems using platforms such as OSI or AspenTech
-
Develop relay settings for SEL and GE Multilin relays
-
Conduct field testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of protection and SCADA systems

Prepare comprehensive electrical construction packages, including:

Single-Line & Three-Line Diagrams
-
Schematics / Elementary Diagrams
-
Interconnection & Logic Diagrams
-

Maintain thorough documentation of all control, protection, and SCADA configurations
-
Work closely with Project Managers to ensure technical quality, schedule, and budget alignment
-
Provide after-hours technical support when required
-
Assist in drafting technical proposals and estimating costs for new projects
Required Skills & Experience:
-
4–8 years of direct experience in protection and control engineering
-
Proficiency in SEL RTAC programming and SCADA system integration
-
Strong understanding of communication protocols: DNP3, MMS, GOOSE, and IEC 61850
-
Deep knowledge of relay settings, SCADA architecture, and HMI interfaces
-
Familiarity with NEC, NESC, and IEEE 3000 series standards

Experience with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower for system modeling and analysis

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
-
Excellent verbal, written, and documentation skills
Education & Certifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)

FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification (required)
