Electrical Power Engineer – Protection & Control
📍 Alpharetta, GA | Full-Time | ~40% Travel (including air travel)
Experience: 4–8 Years

 

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Power Engineer to support the growing Protection & Control division within a nationally recognized electrical power and control systems engineering firm. Based in Alpharetta, GA, this role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects involving SCADA integration, relay settings, and field commissioning of mission-critical electrical infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and program SEL protection relays and RTACs (logic, HMI development, data concentrator functionality)

  • Integrate SCADA systems (e.g., OSI, AspenTech)

  • Develop relay settings for SEL and GE Multilin devices

  • Execute field testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for protection and SCADA systems

  • Prepare complete electrical design packages:

    • Single-Line & Three-Line Diagrams

    • Schematics / Elementary Diagrams

    • Interconnection & Logic Diagrams

  • Maintain documentation of protection, control, and SCADA configurations

  • Collaborate with project managers to meet technical and budgetary expectations

  • Provide after-hours technical support as needed

  • Assist with technical proposals and cost estimating for new opportunities


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 4–8 years of hands-on experience in protection and control systems

  • Proficient in SEL RTAC programming and SCADA system integration

  • Strong grasp of DNP3, MMS, GOOSE, and IEC 61850 protocols

  • Knowledge of relay protection settings, SCADA system architecture, and HMI development

  • Familiar with NEC, NESC, and IEEE 3000 series standards

  • Experienced with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower for power system modeling

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)

  • FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification (required)
