Position Overview

We are in search of a skilled Firmware Engineer to join our team in Knoxville, TN. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded software development, specifically in Debian-based Linux distributions, or UI development using Qt. Additionally, experience or personal interest in small unmanned systems such as drones is preferred. Our client offers several senior software engineering positions, each focusing on different areas including embedded Linux administration, machine learning, UI development, autopilot software, and system architectures.


· Design and develop high-quality firmware for next-generation unmanned systems

· Mentor and lead a team of junior firmware engineers in developing unmanned system products and solutions

· Prioritize and execute tasks throughout the software development life cycle

· Write clean and efficient code for tools and applications

· Automate tasks using appropriate tools and scripting languages

· Review and debug code for quality assurance

· Perform validation and verification tests

· Collaborate with internal teams to enhance software


The successful candidate should ideally possess the following skills, although applicants with a partial skillset will also be considered:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Engineering
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Qt, .Net, or Python

· Strong expertise in embedded Linux, including system and network management

· Familiarity with or keen interest in open-source autopilot projects and communication protocols (PX4, ArduPilot, ROS, MAVLink, QGroundControl, Mission Planner, etc.)

· Preferred experience with ARM architectures, Raspberry Pi, Nvidia Jetson, and other embedded platforms

· Knowledge of Visual Studio

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science. Advanced degrees are welcome.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year
